Zipping around in Rotorua
1 September 2019
This years Star Insurance weekend away, “Celebrating Success” saw all 30 of our staff head off for an adventure in Rotorua.
Our weekend started early Saturday morning at Auckland airport for a McDonald’s breakfast before our flight to Rotorua. Air NZ however had other ideas, cancelling our flight 5 minutes before we were due to board! So after some frantic phone calls and a bit of waiting around we all boarded a bus and endured a 3 hour road trip to the central north island.
We arrived early afternoon at Rotorua Canopy Tours, an adventure course with zip lines, swing bridges and treetop platforms in native NZ forest. Despite the nerves of a few staff we had a great afternoon zipping through the forest, at times 7 stories up and 450 metres across.
Early evening we checked into our rooms at the Novatel Rotorua and enjoyed some drinks and a presentation from CEO Nick Baker. Then it was over to Eat Street for Italian dinner before a few staff checked out the local night life.
Sunday morning saw us all back on the bus heading to Tauranga for a Pizza lunch at our office. This being the first time most staff had visited the Tauranga office. Finally a Sunday afternoon trip back home to Auckland, already thinking about where next years retreat might take us!
