E Hayes and Sons hardware and gift store in central Invercargill is synonymous amongst locals and attracts plenty of tourists to its display of vintage cars and bikes.
The store is very proud to be recipients of a Presidential Award presented by the Vintage Car Club of New Zealand, one of only eight bestowed since 2004.

E Hayes and Sons are proud custodians of a unique private collection of over one hundred classic, vintage and modern motorcycles, automobiles, engines, equipment and memorabilia known as the E Hayes Motorworks Collection.
The centerpiece to the Collection is Burt Munro's authentic, original and legendary 1920 Indian Scout motorcycle, the ‘Munro Special’. Known as 'The World's Fastest Indian', this is the bike on which Burt Munro set his speed record of 184.087mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats, USA on 26th August 1967.
The E Hayes Motorworks Collection is easily accessible to the general public, spread throughout one of New Zealand's most extensive, independent and family-owned hardware stores.
The E Hayes Motorworks Collection is on permanent display throughout E Hayes and Sons store, at 168 Dee Street Invercargill, and is available for all visitors to view free of charge during normal shop opening hours.
The vehicles and bikes on display are insured with Star Insurance Specialists via Insurance Brokers Alliance Invercargill.
